Starlight Scenery created a custom stage system for MAX BARSKIH OPEN AIR FEST “TODAY MAKES SENSE”

The launch of Max Barskih’s nationwide tour at VDNG brought back the atmosphere of major summer festivals, while the artist’s new show, accompanied by the National Presidential Orchestra, turned the concert into a large-scale musical performance inspired by burlesque and retro Bond aesthetics.

One of the show’s most striking moments was Max Barskih’s spectacular entrance from beneath the stage — and this is where engineering became part of the directing concept. The idea came from the show director, while the Starlight Scenery team brought it to life by designing and manufacturing a custom stage toaster system.

The task was far from simple: the team had just over a month to develop the engineering solution, manufacture and test the system, make adjustments, and rehearse — ensuring that during the concert it would operate with split-second precision, perfectly synchronized with the music, lighting, choreography, and the artist’s movements.

“We love challenges like this. This is not an off-the-shelf solution or a copy of a well-known stage effect, but an engineering system adapted specifically for this show,” says Pylyp Nirod, Director of Starlight Scenery. “Every detail matters here: mechanics, safety, activation speed, rehearsals, and precise communication between teams. It is also important to understand that in moments like this, technology is only part of the success. A great deal depends on the artist’s skill, courage, and talent. Max Barskih made this moment truly powerful.”
